How do I join CompSoc?

If you’re already a member of the Warwick Student’s Union Societies Federation, you can join online via our Student’s Union society page. If not, you can read about how to do that here.

I’m not a member of CompSoc but I’d still like to come to your events. Is this OK?

Well, really we’d like you to join the society. You can however request a guest account, but please bear in mind if you do it might be good to drop an email to compsoc-exec@uwcs.co.uk or say hi in our IRC channels so we have a clue who you are, first. :)

How do I connect to your IRC channels so I can talk to you guys?

Check out this page for info.

Our Services

How do I setup hosting on CompSoc’s servers?

If you’re already a member of CompSoc then all you have to do is request it and you should be contacted by us with your account details on our members’ server.

To make the request, go to your profile and under shell account there is a request form. You should request a username that is easy for you to remember. Something like a nickname is good! We’ll generate a random password for you which you can change once you login.

Once you’ve got these details, check out this small guide to using our member’s server.

How do I get to use MySQL databases on CompSoc’s servers?

Go to your profile and fill out the form under Database Account, and we’ll create a MySQL user and email you your password. You will need this for any apps you run that want to create MySQL databases (e.g WordPress).
