Student Awards

This award is presented to the school who have the most winners of the bi-weekly SU competitions. Competitions have consisted of activities such as building the tallest tower, making the best paper aeroplane and constructing a jigsaw in the fastest time.

This award is given to the society who have had the largest impact on EEC students this academic year. This could be evidenced through the number of events and activities they have led on, the number of attendees at events, any student feedback or testimonies received from those events or how they have worked on creating a society legacy in EEC.

Student Reps are vital to ensuring that the student voice is heard, and acted upon, across the faculty. This award will be given to the Rep who has attended all necessary meetings, ensured action logs are kept up to date and has supported additional events and activity hosted by the faculty or the Students’ Union, going above and beyond in their role.

One EEC Rep of the Year Award will be given for each of the four schools across the faculty. All EEC Reps of the Month will automatically be considered for this award.

We recognise that working full-time alongside completing a qualification can require a lot of dedication. We are awarding the EEC Apprentice of the Year award to an individual who has showcased strong time management skills, balancing their work and studies simultaneously, whilst also receiving positive feedback from university and work-based staff on their contributions. This student may also have gone above and beyond to further their student experience, such as by participating in extra-curricular activity both inside or outside of their course.

The EEC Undergraduate Student of the Year Award is a coveted award that will be given to a student who has shown great commitment to making the most of their student experience. This student may have demonstrated this by achieving academic excellence in their course, participated in multiple extra-curricular activities (inside and/or outside of their university experience) or contributed greatly to their local community.

The EEC Postgraduate Student of the Year Award is a coveted award that will be given to a student who has shown great commitment to making the most of their student experience. This student may have demonstrated this by achieving academic excellence in their course, participated in multiple extra-curricular activities (inside and/or outside of their university experience) or contributed greatly to their local community.

Putting theory into practice is an important part of the student learning journey, and many students in EEC chose to take on a placement as part of their course to enhance their employability. This award will be given to a student who has demonstrated high levels of commitment to their placement. They may have received excellent feedback on their approach to work, or the products they have created. This student may also have been praised for their skills and knowledge of their subject, whilst also attending all necessary check in meetings, ensuring they deliver their assignment/s to a high quality.

We welcome submissions from students, staff, and placement providers for this award.

Many students in EEC possess strong leadership qualities, demonstrated throughout their university experience and beyond. This award aims to recognise a student who is currently in a leadership position, or someone who demonstrates qualities of an aspiring, future leader. Their impact can be measured on the project or work they have contributed to, the success of their leadership such as through inspiring others, as well as any changes they have implemented, or results gained.

Throughout their academic journey, students will take on various projects, such as their dissertation, module projects or extra-curricular commitments (including community projects or support). This award aims to recognise the success of a Student Project that has been undertaken by one, or multiple, EEC students, either within university or beyond. When submitting a nomination, please consider the scope, impact and outcome that the Project may have had.

Staff Awards

These awards will go to individuals who foster a welcoming and approachable environment for students. They actively support extra-curricular initiatives and engagement, helping students to find and develop their communities, and encourage open debate and discussion in classes. They may have been praised for their communication skills or have gone above and beyond to support students in different ways, such as helping them to build industry connections or being flexible with tutorial opportunities. One award will be given for each of the four schools across the faculty.

This award aims to recognise staff from various areas, including the Talent Team, Student Success Coaches, Technicians, Facilities and Timetabling, the Library, Students’ Union and administrative and management teams (such as Associate Heads of School for Student Experience) who have supported students in EEC.

The winner of this award may have been praised for their customer service skills and approach to signposting and supporting students. They will have strong communication skills and will endeavour to create a welcoming environment for individuals to ask questions, providing them with the necessary tools to succeed as a student. They may also help to foster a student community through the events and activities they provide. Up to two of these awards are available.

This award will be presented to an individual who shows understanding of, and commitment to, new and current practice relating to EDI, embedding it at the heart of their delivery structures whilst also sharing resources and insight with others. They may have gone above and beyond to support staff or students in the faculty, continuously championing the views of others, supporting healthy campus culture and reflecting equitable practice in their day-to-day activity.

The Teaching Excellence Award is presented to an individual whose teaching materials, and wider course syllabus, is creative, interactive and encourages students’ personal and professional development. The winner of this award may have been praised by students for their delivery style, or unique and inspiring teaching methods. They are also someone who is open to student feedback and new ways of learning. They may host additional activities as part of their delivery, such as guest speakers or industry visits, and they are an individual who ensures that all students feel comfortable and confident in the classroom.

Who stands out to you when considering your university experience? This award will be presented to a member of staff who, for reasons personal to you, is one of the main people that you will remember when reflecting on your time at Coventry. It may be that they went above and beyond to support you, you might find their jokes or delivery style in the classroom particularly memorable, or they may simply be the best at what they do in your opinion.

This award is given to supervisors who have supported students with their undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation, placement or other student project. They may have provided additional support or services, motivated and inspired you in your research or signposted you to additional sources or demonstrated outstanding knowledge on the project area.

Joint Awards

Course of the Year is awarded to the programme that encompasses inspirational and high-quality teaching content, which is delivered by motivational and supportive staff. Students may have experienced industry visits or extra-curricular trips, had the chance to apply theory in real-life practical situations through meaningful assignments, or utilised EEC equipment such as simulators or labs as part of their curriculum. Students feedback is listened to and acted upon, and students recognise the employability skills and knowledge gained from the course, which has helped them to prepare for their career.
