April 2023 - September 2023
The Community Officer 2022-23 pitched the idea of a Gender Expression Fund to the SU, and secured funding for this. The Gender Expression Fund will support queer students to access gender-affirming services and items, starting in the 2023-24 academic year.
March 2023 - April 2023
The Community Officer 2022-23 conducted research to find out why students feel lonely and what could be done to reduce loneliness. She ran outreach sessions to speak to students and gather suggestions on how to deal with loneliness, as well as running social activities. The student tips on dealing with loneliness were then made into a video which you can see by following the link below.
September 2022 - March 2023
In September 2022, Coventry PGRs organised nationally to secure an increase in PhD stipends of 13%. Over a fifth of Coventry University PGRs signed an open letter to UKRI, asking them to increase stipends in line with inflation. In March 2023, Your SU adopted the ‘PGRs as Staff’ campaign to lobby for improved support for PGRs.
2022 - 2023
The Welfare and Inclusion Officer wanted to work to alleviate the impact of period poverty on students by providing access to period products. Your SU secured funding from the university to supply period products to students for free.
December 2021 - March 2022
The campaign sought to challenge perceptions of disability by inviting students to design an accessible icon to increase the understanding of these. The winning design was by Ellis Casey.
February 2021
In February 2021, the Education Officer 2020-2022 wrote an open letter with over 5,000 signatures to the university, which resulted in the introduction of a No Detriment Policy and blanket 2-week automatic extensions for on all written coursework and deferrals granted.
2017 - 2019
The President started the campaign to review the experience of Global majority students. A Black History Month panel talk was held to discuss the attainment gap. A survey was developed to report on the experience of global majority students.
April 2018 - May 2018
The officer team ran a series of events to help tackle exam stress by running fun activities and giving out water, pens and healthy snacks!
