Welcome to Your SU Leadership Elections. This is your opportunity to elect both our full-time and part-time officer roles at Your SU.

Activities Officer

This role is responsible for gathering the views of students, representing them to the University, and leading the 100+ societies and 35+ sports clubs on campus. The role involves working on achieving the aims of your manifesto and improving student activities across the University group. You’ll be responsible for leading on showcase Sport and Societies events.

Terms

Job Title: Activities Officer 

Role description

This role is to represent all students studying at Coventry University Group from an activities perspective. You will be situated within the societies department (working closely with sports and volunteering), supporting to improve all student activities that the SU delivers. You will act as the primary spokesperson for activity-related initiatives, working with the University, the Students’ Union, your fellow officers and wider society to ensure all students feel represented and have the opportunity to contribute to shape their student experience.

  • Gather feedback from the student body and report any matters to the relevant student and university committees
  • Work with your SU staff lead and wider team in supporting with activity-related activity that is both proactive and reactive to student need
  • Build relationships and manage stakeholders to facilitate the improvement of the student experience bringing about positive change

Job Outline

  • The Role will run from 17 June 2024 until 31 May 2025.
  • You will be paid £24,248 per annum. This is a full time role. If you are in the middle of your course you will need to take a formal break (sabbatical) from your studies.
  • In order to undertake the role, alongside the election eligibility requirements, you must also be eligible to work in the UK for the entirety of the sabbatical term, and also be eligible to be a Director of a Charity.
  • You will be subjected to Bye-Law 5, Student Leaders of the Union. You will also need to comply with the Students’ Union Articles of Association and any policies, rules and regulations, in line with other employees of the organisation.
  • You will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week, usual office hours will be between 9am-5pm, however at times you will need to work flexibly which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Your principle place of work will be The Hub, Coventry, however you may be expected to travel to other sites, including our London and Scarborough campuses, to provide services or activities, or attend conferences/events. Travel costs outside of your usual commute will be covered.
  • You will be expected to represent the student body as a Delegate at the National Union of Student’s Annual Conference.
  • You will be entitled to 8 bank holidays, and a further 26 working days holiday, (on a pro-rata basis).
  • You are entitled to participate in the National Union of Students Pension Scheme.
  • If you are absent from work due to sickness or injury, you will be eligible to receive sick pay in accordance with Your Students’ Unions Sick Leave and Pay Policy.
  • You will be given certain property to assist you in your role, including a work laptop. This will need to be returned if/when your term ends at the Students’ Union.
  • Should you wish to terminate your term in office, you will be required to give one months notice in writing.

Community Officer

Coventry University is an incredibly diverse institution with students joining from all over the world. This role involves representing the interests of these student groups, including but not limited to, LGBT+ students, International Students, BAME Student and various faith groups and promoting a diverse and positive cultural experience for all students. This position holds a lead role within the Students’ Union and is key in the representation of student views to the university.

Job Title: Community Officer 

Role description

This role is to represent all students studying at Coventry University Group, from a community perspective. You will be situated within the communities department and your remit covers key areas such as equality, diversity and inclusion and campaigns and activism. You will act as the primary spokesperson for community-related initiatives, working with the University, Students’ Union, your fellow officers and wider society to ensure all students feel represented, can identify and join their student community, and have the opportunity to shape their student experience.

Education Officer

The Education Officer represents the educational interests of all Coventry University Group students, this includes skills development, postgraduate students and those studying research-based courses. They are responsible for leading 1000+ course representatives across our campuses. They go out and about speaking to students to collect their feedback on issues and ideas that come up throughout the academic year, taking their thoughts on board and working together with them.

Welfare Officer

The Welfare Officer is one of four sabbatical officers that lead Your SU. They are the principal representative for group wide Welfare initiatives for the Students Union, ensuring that our students are having their needs met during their time at Coventry University. This role is responsible for the promotion of Your SU Advice Service. They play a key role in the relationship between Coventry University Students’ and the Trustee Board and represent the student voice at the University Board.

The PGR Officer role is responsible for gathering the views of students of PGR students and representing them to the University. They act as the primary spokesperson for all students studying PGR courses, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure that everyone is represented and has the opportunity to shape their university experience.

Arts and Society College Officer

This role is responsible for gathering the views of students of FAH students and representing them to the University. They act as the primary spokesperson for all students in their faculty, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure that everyone is represented and has the opportunity to shape their university experience. The FAH Faculty Officer will also contribute to the development of a student community in their faculty through representation.

This role is to represent the students within the College of Arts and Society at Coventry campus. You will act as the primary spokesperson for all students within the College, at every level, working with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure everyone is represented and has the opportunity to contribute to shape their student experience.

They act as the primary spokesperson for all students in their faculty, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure that everyone is represented and has the opportunity to shape their university experience. Health and Care School Officer

This role is responsible for gathering the views of students of HLS students and representing them to the University. They act as the primary spokesperson for all students in their faculty, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure that everyone is represented and has the opportunity to shape their university experience. The HLS Faculty Officer will also contribute to the development of a student community in their faculty through representation.

This role is to represent the students studying within the School of Health and Care at Coventry University Group. You will act as the primary spokesperson for all students within the school, at every level, working with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure everyone is represented and has the opportunity to contribute to shape their student experience.

As a part time officer, you will:

  • Gather feedback from the student body and report any matters to the relevant student and university committees
  • Work with your SU staff lead and wider team in supporting with student voice activity, ensuring quality is maintained, supported and developed
  • Build relationships and manage stakeholders to facilitate the improvement of the overall student experience in your school, bringing about positive change
  • Take part and lead in Students’ Union activities, events and campaigns on a school, and group-wide, level
  • Plan for, and achieve, the aims and objectives you set within your manifesto
  • Be a key decision maker in a range of Students’ Union committee meetings, on behalf of the student body
