About the event
We have a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved with the University Garden project at Ryton Gardens. Don't forget, gardening isn't just about digging and weeding, it's about getting outside, keeping fit, developing soft skills and most of all making friends! This is the chance to not only try as a one-off but also to become a long-standing member of the project.
Volunteers will meet every Wednesday in term time, starting from Wednesday 8th March 10am until 2.30pm. Transport will be provided and will need to meet the shuttle at 10am Prompt outside The Hub on Jardan Well, which will take you to the Gardens and will depart the Gardens at 2 pm arriving back at the Hub for 2.30pm
We have everything in place to ensure our gardening sessions are safe. The gardens mainly consist of a number of themed gardens, rose gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards, specimen trees, and woodland.
Places are limited, so early booking is advised. If you are interested in signing up click here
By participating in the event you will develop key volunteering skills such as teamwork, communication, organisation, time management and creativity. To recognise these skills after completion you will be rewarded with a 'Volunteer Engagement' Badge. This can be displayed on your LinkedIn and showcased to future employers. To find out more about Badges head to our Badges page here
We recommend that you do not travel to campus for our event if you are feeling unwell!
