Changing our Articles

\n\n

As a Students'\; Union\, we w ant \;to continue to ensure our \;services evolve to meet the nee ds of our student members. As a charity\, we have objects that define wha t we are aiming to do\, work on or achieve for our members\, and all acti vity we undertake must link to these. \;
\n
\nAs an organis ation\, we have recently taken over delivery of the Sports Centre and oth er associated sporting facilities\, based in Coventry. As such\, Your SU is proposing a change to our objectives listed in our Aricles of Associat ion\, (a \;legal document that defines an organisation'\;s \;r egulations\, \;structure\, and \;responsibilities)\, to incorpora te these new responsibilities.

\n\n

As we are an organisation led by \, and for\, students\, it is important that we also consult with our mem bers on this change. All students are invited to attend this meeting\, ta king place online via Microsoft Teams\, to discuss these changes and to u ltimately vote to decide whether you \;believe these changes are in t he best interests of our students.

The p roposed changes to the articles are listed below.

Section 2 around Objects currently states:

'\;The objects of t he Union are the advancement of education of Students at Coventry Univers ity Group for the public benefit by:

\n\n

2.1 promoting th e interests and welfare of Students at Coventry University Group during t heir course of study and representing\, supporting and advising Students\ ;

\n\n

2.2 being the recognised representative channel bet ween Students and Coventry University Group and any other external bodies \; and

\n\n

2.3 providing social\, cultural\, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the pe rsonal development of its Students'\;

\n\n

The proposed changes to Section 2 around Objects would mean a change in articles to:
