Sports Executive Committee

The Sports Executive Committee is a group of individuals who work closely with the Sports Officer and Sport Coventry staff to help improve and promote Sports at Coventry University by acting as a voice for the students.

Committee members are also responsible for voting on funding applications submitted by clubs to aid in their development as well as helping organise our big events like Varsity and Sports Awards.

Workshops and Training

Over the academic year, we host multiple workshops and training sessions for our sports club members. These cover a wide range of topics, such as Concussion Awareness, First Aid, Consent Training and more. These offer a great opportunity for you to learn new skills and get a refresher on existing knowledge. Keep an eye out on our events page to see when we are hosting these sessions.

Club Committee Training

All of our sports clubs are run by four elected student leaders who work in collaboration with the Sport Coventry officer to help ensure their club runs smoothly and is successful on and off the field of play. To ensure all committee members are able to undertake this task, we provide them all with training and guidance to help them understand things like safeguarding, EDI, finance and booking processes.

Student Group Finance

Student Group Finance, or SGF, is a way for club members to request money back from the club to cover travel expenses or certain other costs. All club members can find the SGF system under the cog icon at the top of the website and then clicking on Finance Requests. The club committee will first approve requests, and then the Sport Coventry Office will make sure the payment is suitable.

Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire

All Sport Coventry Club members must complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire or PAR-Q when they purchase their club membership. This is a method of identifying students who may suffer from a health condition that will impact their ability to play sports and may put them at risk of injury. We require that all students complete this to confirm that they are not putting themselves at risk whilst playing sports and ensure that the Sport Coventry office and the Students Union are aware of any students with medical conditions that may put them at risk.

If you have any concerns please contact the Sport Coventry office.

Sport Coventry Behavioural Standards

All members of Sport Coventry Club are held to a set of standards to ensure that all members of our sports clubs, the university and the wider sporting community are treated with kindness and respect to create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for all.
