Download SafeZone!
A fast, free, and easy way of getting emergency help on campus, just for you. Sound good? You need to download SafeZone: a free app that you can carry with you on your phone or mobile device that lets you call for instant help on campus with just one tap. Find out all you need to know (including how to download and set it up, how it can help you stay safe, and other frequently asked questions) by visiting our SafeZone webpage here.
Feel Protected!
The university protection team are your very own safety squad, always here to help reassure and look after you when you’re on campus or in university-owned accommodation. You can talk to them any time you have questions or if you’re feeling unsafe or worried. Look out for their monthly roadshows on campus and in accommodation blocks, where they will show and sell safety resources like personal attack alarms and UV pens to help protect yourself and your belongings. Keep checking the Your SU socials and website to find out where and when these roadshows will be. You don’t need to wait until a roadshow to talk to Protection, though: if you’re on campus and need to speak to them, you can go up to any protection team member while they’re patrolling, reach out to them on SafeZone, or give them a call on their non-emergency number: (+44) 024 7765 7363. If you need an instant response in an emergency, contact the protection team through SafeZone, or call their emergency number: (+44) 024 7765 5555.
The campus protection service is here for you.
Be Heard!
Here in Coventry, we want everyone to feel happy, welcome, and like they belong. We say a big “no” to harassing or bullying behaviour from any of our students or staff and will do everything we can to make sure this doesn’t happen. If you feel you’re being bullied, harassed, or a victim of negative or discriminatory behaviour, remember that you have a voice. The university’s bullying and harassment reporting tool is here for you to make the right people aware of your experiences so that you can get the support you need. It’s simple to use, and with the option to remain anonymous, the reporting tool is here to make sure everyone who needs someone to listen is heard.
Get involved!
Fancy meeting the people behind these words? We will be running safety stalls and SafeZone demonstrations across all faculties during welcome, as well as attending welcome fairs at The Hub. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about safety (or anything, really!). Look out for us in our pink t-shirts and come say hi! Also be sure to follow the Coventry Students’ Union Instagram and keep an eye on the Your Advice Service events page throughout the year for updates on events where you can feed back safety concerns and meet the people whose job it is to keep you safe.
Stay Informed!
Worried you won’t remember all this? Don’t be! Our safety page on the Your SU website is always there to remind you of all the above and more. From drugs and alcohol to nights out and personal safety, find all the information you need to help keep yourself safe at Uni – bookmark it in your browser for even easier access.
