The charity was set up so that seriously ill children receive cards, letters, and little gifts from people who want to cheer them up; on Thursday 16 June, our student volunteers gave up a couple of hours of their time to work together making cards for children!
Post Pals is always a popular taster day event as the end result puts a smile on child’s face!
The Post Pals charity was set up so that seriously ill children receive cards, letters, and little gifts from people who want to cheer them up while they lie in their hospital beds.
On Thursday 16 June, our student volunteers gave up a couple of hours of their time to work together making cards for children who are featured on the Post Pals website.
Each student chooses one of the featured children and creates something especially for them.
As with previous Post Pal events, all the materials were supplied, and the students made some amazing cards.
Tracy Reay, SU Volunteering, and Community Coordinator said:
“I can’t emphasise enough how much the children benefit from receiving the cards. It also gives the feel-good factor to our students knowing that what they are making will be going to a poorly young person.
“According to the charity, the parents of the children in receipt of the cards noticed that their children’s self-esteem had grown because someone, somewhere was thinking about them.”
Volunteering for events like Post Pals and the BHF Supersort activity helps you to develop key volunteering skills like teamwork, communication, and creativity, to name but a few.
After completion, you will be rewarded with a 'Volunteer Attendance' Badge. This can be displayed on your LinkedIn profile and showcased to future employers.
