What are the elections and why do we have them?

the Students’ Union and all societies affiliated with it are committed to being a fair and democratic organisation so elections are run every year to ensure current students are elected to represent and lead your society.

What roles are available?

All Mandatory roles for our society committees are up for election as well as 3 roles in the Society Executive Committee.

What do our current committee members have to say?

" I wanted the opportunity to not only give future students the opportunity to join our society, but also to help make the society better for everyone. Being in the society itself has helped me further develop my interpersonal skills, but being on the committee in a leadership role as president has taught me how to lead meetings, how to delegate tasks effectively, and how to deal with disagreements within a collaborative environment." - Joshua Hallstrom, President of Tabletop Society

" I have gained so many skills whilst being part of the society. The main skills I have learnt have been leadership and adaptability. Being President of a society involves lots of organisation and things can change quickly whilst planning events you have to be able to be adaptable and have several options for any events you're planning. " -  Alex Powell, President of LGBTQIA+ Society

"It’s always about networking, collaboration, and supporting our friends. Being in society and on panels helped me understand the different perspectives, I was eager to meet new people and widen my network and as an international student, I always want to connect with diverse groups.  Society was a place where I could meet new people and have a calm distraction from my coursework." - Elvis George, Society Executive Committee member
