Create Your Volunteering Profile
Looking to volunteer? Here's a step-by-step guide to volunteering through Your SU.

Once you complete your Volunteering Profile, this will allow you to keep up to date with the current
opportunities available from Voluntary Organisations on our portal.
Your volunteering experience should be an enjoyable experience, to help you, think about the
following areas:

What are your interests?

What skills do you have?

What skills would you like to gain?

What do you hope to achieve?

How much time do you have to commit?

Opportunities for a full list of volunteering projects and find more detailed information.

Go through the opportunities and select the one’s you are interested in.

Once you have selected the “I am interested in this opportunity” button you will
receive an automated message from the organisation to inform you of the next steps. This could be an
instruction to complete an application form or access to the organisations website to follow their
online processes.

Hopefully you’ve now started your journey to securing a volunteering placement. The
organisation(s) will contact you directly with further information i.e start dates, discuss how many
hours you can do or to request any further details that may be required for the role.

accreditation and recognition for your volunteering work.

Volunteering Drop in Sessions
These session are a great way to meet the Volunteering team for an informal chat about all things
volunteering and how you can get involved!

"I Want to Volunteer" Taster Days!
Volunteer Taster Days are one-off volunteering opportunities which are organised throughout the year and
are a great way to get involved in volunteering with no long term commitment. You can make a positive
impact in just a few hours and it's quick and easy to take part. We will have opportunities available
both on campus and in the local community for you to come along to;

Volunteering Fairs
These events are great to find your perfect volunteering opportunity that fits to your schedule.
There’s so much to choose from at our Volunteering Fairs. They take place on campus
during October and February each year!
