Community Engagement Lead Updates

Alex Powell – LGBTQ+ Community Engagement Lead

In February, I assisted in organizing and running activities designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. These activities were organized throughout Scarborough, Coventry, and London – and were designed to help educate people about LGBTQ+ History Month and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community whilst raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues.

As a reminder – the Gender Expression fund is still up and running for all students interested, to learn more please click here

Natalie Ho – International Community Engagement Lead

Unfortunately, Natalie was not available for our recent meeting – and so was unable to provide an update on her activity. Please stay tuned for future updates from March!

Nico Hlaing – Disabled Community Engagement Lead

In February, I continued to monitor our Disabled Community WhatsApp group chat, and began planning for a Disabled Community Games night – which I expect to host in March. Outside of this, I am actively looking for other opportunities to contribute towards the Disabled Community at Coventry University.

Obonganwan Akpabio – Women’s Community Engagement Lead

I have been planning for International Women’s day throughout February, and intend to have a very active schedule of activities ready for people to enjoy. These will include, but are not limited to, society collaboration events; guest speakers; and informational sessions designed to celebrate being a woman.
