Sexual Harassment Statement

Your SU is committed to creating a safe, constructive working environment in which all employees are treated with dignity and respect. For this reason, and to comply with Section 40A of the Worked Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023, we will not tolerate sexual harassment in our workplace.

The responsibility extends to taking steps to protect staff from harassment from third parties e.g. by clients, customers, or suppliers. This includes students attending events and activities. We want our staff, and students, to feel safe from abuse and harassment, including sexual harassment, and have a zero-tolerance approach meaning that we will take all complaints of sexual harassment extremely seriously and will always investigate.

We have taken several steps including introducing a new policy, implemented staff training and considering the risk in our risk assessments.

Everyone in the Students’ Union is responsible for implementing the policy: we expect everyone to take responsibility for their own behaviour and behave in line with the Students’ Union’s values.

We thank our students, clients, customers and suppliers for respecting our staff, and each other, when interacting with Your SU.

If you are a student and have been subject to sexual harassment and are looking for support, information can be found here - Sexual misconduct and harassment single source of information.
