Sensory Rooms

We know at times and for many reasons having a space to focus, take a break and met your sensory needs is essential to optimise your work. We’ve created 3 sensory rooms on our Coventry campus for you to use which are designed to meet a variety of needs to help you study.

The Reef Room is designed for students who benefit from more sensory stimulation. Inspired by the energy and colour of the ocean, it’s a vibrant, playful space filled with light, movement, and texture.

Bright blues and greens, combined with interactive lighting like bubble tubes and water ripple projectors, make the room feel lively and dynamic. Comfortable movement-friendly seating, such as rocking chairs and bean bags, helps students engage their senses safely and enjoyably.

With its colourful décor and engaging sensory features, The Reef Room encourages exploration, creativity, and fun: a space where energy and imagination can thrive.

The Forest Room provides a comfortable middle ground for students who want some sensory engagement without too much stimulation. Taking inspiration from a forest, this room uses earthy greens, natural materials, and gentle lighting to create a sense of warmth and balance.

It includes a range of seating options: from swivel chairs to bean bags; giving students the choice to work, rest, or simply unwind. Different textures and shapes add gentle variety without being overwhelming.

The Forest Room’s natural colours and softly lit environment help students feel grounded, calm, and comfortable: a space designed to support focus, relaxation and gentle stimulation.

The Cloud Room offers a calm, peaceful retreat for students who are sensitive to sensory input. Inspired by the feeling of being “up in the clouds,” this space is designed to feel soft, gentle, and light.

Soft whites, beiges, and pastel tones create a soothing atmosphere that helps reduce stress and distraction. Comfortable seating such as bean bags and cushioned floor chairs allow students to relax in whichever way feels best.

Lighting is low and gentle, with draped fabric to diffuse harsh overhead lights and soft lamps that create a warm glow. Every detail: from the soft textures to the simple, uncluttered design; helps create a quiet environment where students can recharge and find calm.
