You’ll learn practical ways to communicate respectfully, challenge barriers and contribute to inclusive teams.
This helps you build confidence for placements, group work and future jobs, and gives you language and examples you can use in applications and interviews to show you understand equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.
By attending, you will gain the following skills, behaviour and knowledge for your future career:
Skills:
Communicating respectfully about disability (language, tone, asking rather than assuming).
Identifying and describing common barriers (physical, digital, attitudinal) and practical ways to remove them.
Contributing to inclusive group work, events and activities (e.g. considering access when planning).
Knowledge
Basic understanding of the social vs medical models of disability.
Awareness of key legal and policy context (e.g. Equality Act, reasonable adjustments) in student‑friendly terms.
