About the event

A hands-on, student-led sustainability challenge for students who want to move from climate concern to confident action. Working with peers from different courses and backgrounds, you’ll identify a local sustainability issue and develop your own solution through an eight-session programme.

You will explore global sustainability, climate justice, biodiversity, circular economy and social change before applying these ideas to your local context. You’ll be supported to identify and understand the problem, engage with potential users and partners, consider risk, measure its impact and communicate your work through storytelling, branding or a final pitch. You can work as part of a multidisciplinary team or develop your own project, depending on your interests and the group.

This experience is designed to help you build confidence as a change-maker while developing transferable skills for your future career, including project management, entrepreneurial thinking, collaboration, communication, innovation, problem-solving and impact measurement.

To complete the challenge, you must attend all 2- 4pm sessions on the following dates:

  • 8 October

  • 15 October

  • 22 October

  • 5 November

  • 11 November

  • 19 November

  • 26 November

  • 3 December

Sessions are planned as in-person activities to support collaboration, creativity and community-building. However, the final format will be shaped with the student group. If online sessions would make the programme more accessible or effective for the group, we will work to decide which sessions could be delivered online.

You do not need to be a sustainability expert or have a fully formed project idea; just come ready to contribute ideas, collaborate and take an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
