Hinamatsuri is a traditional Japanese celebration for the safe and healthy growth of girls (There’s a day for boys too in May). Traditionally, it involves making and displaying dolls called 'hina ningyo' and eating foods like 'chirashizushi' (sushi rice mixed with fish and vegetables) and 'hina- arare' (coloured rice crackers).

Although it is a girls’ day, everyone is warmly invited to participate.
