Your Committee Members

Any current CU Group student can be a committee member of a society. I.E. you must have a valid Student ID. You can be on a committee whilst you’re on placement.

Two people standing and engaging in a conversation.

What roles are available?

To start a society you need to have a President, Treasurer and Inclusion officer

For School of Health and Care societies we allow students to choose their own committee positions relevant to their society.

Once you’ve met affiliation and are gaining members we allow you to grow your committee and believe this should be to an appropriate ratio however understand that there may be times when you need to add specific roles. Please speak to your coordinator about adding these roles when you need to. You don’t have to add roles if you do not want them however you must keep the mandatory roles filled.

Advised Member: Committee member ratio:

How do we choose our committee?

When you’re starting out as a society you may want to discuss your skillsets and determine what responsibilities you could each carry out. We firmly believe that the management of a society is all committee members responsibility and everyone should be able to do a little bit of everything so that you can carry on as a society if and when people are away, on holiday, have other commitments that may change their availability.

If you’re struggling to get the mandatory roles filled, let us know at societies.su@coventry.ac.uk so that we can see if anyone has expressed interest in the role previously. You can also use our committee match form to register your interest in being on a committee and should we get enough applications in we can put everyone in touch with one another.

Beyond the lead a society process we get into hosting Elections for your society which we explain here.
