Who we are

Rock Music Society has been uniting Coventry's student Rock and Metal scene since the Coventry Polytechnic days before 1992! The society has fluxuated in popularity across a span of four decades, mimicing the popularity of the music scene. Throughout this period the society has based it's socials across a range of venues such as Ivy (now Rosie Malone's), Quids Inn and The Golden Cross spending evenings playing, listening to and appreciating music! Fast forward to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Society fell into de-recogtnition, sharing the same fate as many others. However, in 2022 Rock Music Society rose from the ashes like a phoenix and thanks to in increase in appreciation for all things rock and metal, has been going strong ever since!

Today Rock Music Society provides the best community to meet and befriend fellow metalheads/punks/rockers/goths who you wouldn't necessarily meet otherwise during your University tenure! Rock Soc'ers converge on various venues throughout Coventry (and sometimes further afield) on a weekly basis to make the most of the quite frankly incredible local music scene the city has to offer. Our weekly jam sessions are perfect for those looking to experience playing music as a collective and to hunt potential band members. Frequent socials and an increible online platform give you the space to obsess over your favourite band's new album to people who actually care!

Don't look back on your uni days with regret by not joining the Rock Music Society and making the most of Coventry's best music community - you've got nothing to lose! (Apart from £5 if you really despise it but you'll be walking away with a very cool members badge as a memento!)

Local gigs (Weekly)

There's always a gig on somewhere at the weekends in Coventry. Join us on Fri and\or Sat (and sometimes even school) nights at some of our favourite venues in the city:

The Arches Venue - Located in the Arches Industrial Estate in Spon End, Arches host a diverse range of the best local and tribute bands, there's always something on the line-up that will catch your interest. RockSoc members recieve *50%* off ticket prices on the door!

The Tin - Much like Arches, The Tin is one of our favourite small local venues, offering a range of intimate gigs, quiz and karaoke nights.

hmv Empire - Run by everyone's favourite music shop, Empire is the place to see the big names that come to Coventry.

Jam Sessions (Weekly)

With our own dedicated practice room, we hold weekly jam sessions for the musicians amongst us so we can practice, learn and play together.
