We want to know from our students’ what ideas you have for change. Whether it’s something relating to the SU or the university, you can submit an idea to us which will be considered by the student body and potentially the Officer team. For an idea to be considered it needs to fall under one of the following criteria:

  • To improve the delivery of one the SU’s services. Examples could be more face to face appointments for a particular service or a need feedback mechanism you’d like us to explore
  • Something you’d like our Officer’s to work with the university on to improve the student experience. Examples of ideas in this area could be quiet spaces in The Hub or more water filling stations across campus
  • Topics you’d like the SU to make a stand on you can submit an idea to be considered by the student body and Officer Team. Examples could be something happening in world news that you think the SU should have a public position on

How can I get involved?

Introduce an Official Student Anonymous Community Platform to Improve Peer Support and Campus Engagement

    Current
What is the idea? I would like the SU to explore adopting or collaborating with an anonymous student community platform that allows Coventry students to connect, share experiences, and support each other. Many students—especially international students and those who are introverted—struggle to find a safe space to ask questions or engage with the wider community. An anonymous platform would lower that barrier and encourage more genuine interaction. Why is this needed? At the moment, students rely on scattered social media groups that are not monitored, not inclusive, and often unsafe. An SU-supported anonymous space would - Provide a safe channel for students to discuss academic concerns, wellbeing issues, and campus life. - Help students connect with others who share similar challenges or interests. - Improve the student experience by creating a sense of belonging, especially for those who feel isolated. Many universities(In Korea) have already seen positive outcomes by providing moderated community spaces, as it increases engagement and early peer-to-peer support. How would this benefit students and the SU? - Offers early, peer-led emotional and academic support. - Encourages student voice in a safe and open environment. - Gives the SU insight into emerging student issues in real time. - Reduces misinformation by having a moderated, student-centred platform. What could the SU collaborate on? I’d like the SU to work with the university to: - Provide verification through student email login (while keeping all activity anonymous). - Promote the platform during induction and key academic periods. - Ensure trained moderators and safeguarding policies are in place. This would create a healthier, more connected student environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their experiences.
