Whether your student journey at Coventry University has just started, is well on its way, or is coming to a close, Your SU’s Wellbeing Fair has something for you this summer. Check out these 4 reasons you should drop by the ground floor of The Hub between 11am-3pm this Tuesday 2nd June!
Your SU’s Wellbeing Fair is a chance not only to see what Your Students’ Union is doing to keep you safe and sound, but also to meet a variety of University and independent services across Coventry. From getting help with stress, low mood or loneliness, to seeking support with math and stats, to writing a top tier essay, here are 4 reasons you should drop by and say hi on The Ground floor of The Hub this coming Tuesday 2nd June.
1. Stay Safe and Savvy!
Ever wondered who is responsible for keeping you safe on campus? Come and meet the Campus Protection Services, your very own campus security team. Learn about all things safety, including the ever-essential SafeZone app as well as a chance to purchase important safety equipment such as bike locks and personal safety alarms. Independent of the university, the Regional Organized Crime Unit (ROCU) will also be there to talk with you if you think you may have been scammed or you want to find out more information on how to avoid fraud. You can also say hello to your local West Midlands Police PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers)! Your SU’s Wellbeing Fair is a great opportunity to have a casual chat about any safety concerns, learn more about the work of community policing, and pick up some great safety-related freebies!
2. Mind Your Mental Health
Important deadlines approaching? Worried over what the future holds? Or even just feeling a little lost and lonely? Sometimes it feels like there can be a lot to be stressed about. That’s why we’ve invited Coventry, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire Mind—a mental-health-focused charity who are here to give you access to information, a listening ear, or to help signpost you towards more specialist support services. Alongside CWW Mind will be the NHS Coventry, Warwickshire, and Solihull Talking Therapies service, who provide free and confidential support including short-term psychological therapies for those struggling with anxiety, depression, and many other mental health troubles. You never need to suffer in silence.
3. Level Up Your Learning
Academia feeling all a bit new and scary? Or are you just struggling to nail that perfect assignment technique? Your university has specialist support that can help you become the best student you can be!
sigma Maths and Stats Support Centre offers free maths and statistics help to Coventry University students, regardless of course or level of study. The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) is also doing great work to enable Coventry University students to become independent writers through a wide variety of writing support services like academic writing and referencing, tips on exam writing, workshops, single-question drop-in sessions, and more! They will be at the fair, along with the Lanchester Library’s famous mobile library, complete with a special summer twist.
4. Be Resource-Ready
Even if you don’t think there's anything specific you need help with right now, you never know what you might need in the future. All the services here on Tuesday will have contact cards and information with vital support links that you can take away and keep close for a time when you may need them. Our stalls aren’t just leaflets and learning—you can also grab useful free things such as drink spiking stoppers and free contraception. Also keep an eye out for a fun game or two, such as Coventry Drug and Alcohol Support Service (CGL)’s shot-size guesstimator: do you think you could perfectly measure out a shot (of water, in this case!) without a shot glass?
So, there you have it! No matter whether you’re looking for wellbeing support or just want to learn more about all the great health and wellbeing services out there for you, why not take a quick break and come on down to Your SU’s Wellbeing Fair. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
