How are we celebrating you?

We believe in showcasing and celebrating the incredible students across the Coventry group who make a real difference to the student experience.

The Students' Union 30 Most Influential highlights individuals and student groups who have gone above and beyond to make an impact during their time at University.

To be selected, students must nominate themselves or someone they know and explain how they think they meet our top 30 awards criteria. This could include creating an impactful project or campaign to inspire your fellow students or creating an inclusive community through student groups. Find the full criteria below.

Top 30 Awards Criteria

Our criteria isn't fixed, we want to see students who have made a difference, improved their community's experience and done something that needs to be highlighted. See our criteria below.

Top 30 Ceremony

Winners will be selected ahead of the awards ceremony, but will receive their award and much more by attending our ceremony. Not only will you have your time to shine collecting the award in front of a crowd full of staff, students and university leaders, you will also receive the following:

  • Professional headshot photo
  • Video testimonial - to be shared afterwards
  • Certificate
  • Small prize

Photograph Submission Guidelines

To ensure consistency and suitability for use, please adhere to the following photograph guidelines for your submission:

  • Photographs should be taken against a plain background. A white background is preferred.
  • Images must be captured in a bright, well-lit environment. Subjects should face the light source and avoid backlighting or standing in front of windows.
  • Photographs must include the subject’s torso or full body, with adequate space around the subject/s. Headshots or tightly cropped images will not be accepted.
  • The subject/s should be the clear focal point of the image and positioned at the forefront. Avoid standing behind unrelated objects, furniture or props.
  • Photographs must be taken straight on, either by another person or using a tripod. Selfie-style and angled or stylised shots should be avoided.
  • Subjects should look directly into the camera or slightly off-camera. Avoid looking completely away from the camera or having eyes closed.
  • For group photos, please provide a full-body group image with all individuals positioned close together. Avoid large gaps, uneven spacing or staggered placement.
  • Photos should be recent and representative of the period and activity for which you are being nominated.
  • Avoid heavy filters, digital effects, or excessive retouching.
  • Subjects should wear plain or neutral clothing and avoid visible logos, branding, or busy patterns wherever possible.
  • Images should be submitted at the highest possible quality. Do not compress files, and select the highest resolution and file format available on your device when capturing the photograph. Accepted file types include PNG, JPEG, TIFF.
