CU Health and Care Societies

Put simply, We’re listening to your feedback. For several years we’ve battled the complexities of Health and Care courses, responsibilities and commitments versus the Student Experience of the committee and society members. Our deadlines would clash with placements, Students would be working and studying odd hours and were not able to attend welcome fairs so we’ve opted to trial some new ways of working with School of Health and Care societies.

Building a School of Health and Care strategy

Within September – December 2025 we conducted large scale surveys, focus groups and gathered student feedback from committee members, society members and non-members regarding their experiences and what they believed needed to change to grow engagement and support for School of Health and Care societies.

We’ve compiled results and are working towards a new strategy for society engagement. Part of this strategy will mean that your society committee experience may look slightly different to other academic societies.

Because this is such a significant and ongoing change we’re excited to work with all committees, current and future, to get the best out of your society experience.

What are the changes?

As we progress through trial runs, changing processes and updates we’ll make sure to inform you via teams, email and committee resources if any changes impact you.

The biggest change in 2026 is that for only the School of Health and Care societies we will move the Society committee elections into January to align better with the start of the year and a better time for most students within the school.
