Academic Societies

We want all students across the CU group to have the opportunity to participate in relevant extra-curricular activity alongside their course and believe a strong factor that influences student experience is having a social element to their course. Academic societies can operate like any other society as well as host events and initiatives that benefit the course members. Academic societies may host events such as study sessions, career panels, guest lecturers and more.

How can your Academic Society act as a feedback mechanism for your course?

Society events, meetings and chats are an excellent platform to gather feedback from students who are likely on a related course. As academic society committee members you can represent your society members to the wider SU and University.

Here are some of the ways you can provide course feedback or get support:

  1. Speak with your course representatives – Students who hold a specific representative role and attend meetings with SU and academic staff to positively impact student experience. Find out who your rep is here.
  2. Utilise the Online Feedback Platform and other Feedback opportunities.
  3. Raise concerns within the SU democratic processes such as sharing with your Elected Officers (Part-time or Full time) Find out who your officers are on the SU homepage.
  4. Speak to your coordinator to get specific support.
