The world celebrates International Women's Day on the 8th of March, which is an annual opportunity to learn and reflect on the achievements of the Womens Community. Here at YourSU, the Women's Student Community is hosting different events and activities this week where you can learn more about the community, and celebrate the impact that women have had on society.
International Womens Day
We celebrate International Womens Day with events this week, from 9th March to the 13th March. This year marks the 115th year of International Women's Day, with the day remaining an important opportunity for all groups ot elevate and amplify the focus on gender equality. The first International Women's Day was held in March 1911, and this special day of impact belongs to all groups, everywhere.
At Your SU, this week focuses on building connection within the Womens' community in the CU Group, raising awareness and make change, and help to educate the student body on the impact of the community in society. This years' International Women's Day theme of 'Give to Gain' highlights how when we invest in women, we unlock growth, innovation and resilience that benefits everyone.
Our Communities are free to join for any Coventry University student, and our Women's Community is available for any student that self-defines as a woman, who’s gender identities include woman some or all of the time, or who has had lived experience associated with being a woman.
