Introduce yourself

Ello lovely people! I’m Jess, your new Campus Officer, I am in my 3rd and final year here at CU Scarborough, I’m studying Acting. I’m really excited about taking post and helping to make campus a social and enjoyable space to meet new people.

What is a Campus Officer?

The Campus Officer is the main person who speaks for all students at CU Scarborough. Every year students vote to choose the Campus Officer, and they talk on behalf of all students in different places like the University, Student's' Union, and the local community.

As your Campus Officer I am here to ensure all students feel valued and represented on campus. I will do this by working closely with your Course Reps and your course leaders. I am also available for anyone to ask any questions you may have or any feedback you may have.

What are you going to do in the role?

In my manifesto I expressed what key points I want to work on in my role, however, there are also many different points I want to work on. Here are some key points:

Student safety outside of campus:
One thing I am passionate about is how students feel outside of the campus, it has become apparent that with the world we now live in there can be some concerns for certain individuals, to start breaking down this barrier myself and Lucy have been working on compiling together a Run Club. This is open to any student and will hopefully be a moment where you can meet new people and build up confidence with the Scarborough areas.

Celebrating our communities:
Celebrating our communities is very key on our campus and something we are very proud of within the Union. One thing I want to build on this year is making more of our communities and celebrating them with full of pride and joy.

Build our engagement:
This year I want to build on the student engagement with the SU, this has been a struggle in the past where there hasn’t been as much engagement from the students with the SU. This will be a main focus for me this year is to build that connection and help build up that relationship so students know and can take full advantage of this service if needed.

How can I get in touch?

I am here to represent you! please feel free to reach out and have a chat with me about what could be improved or what we should do more of. You can get in touch with me at ae4750@coventry.ac.uk, or come say hi when you see me around campus!
