What are communities?

Communities bring together students who share aspects of their identity, background, or lived experience. At the Students’ Union, the communities we facilitate are online, in person and across all of our CU locations.

Communities provide a space for students to connect, support one another, celebrate diversity, and work collectively to improve the student experience of members of the community whether that is advocating for student voice, challenging and campaigning the University, local or national organisations or just having a shared space to talk.

What are engagement leads?

Community Engagement Leads are paid student representatives who help champion the interests of their community, 1 Community Engagement lead is appointed per community, recruitment will typically take place in spring for appointment the following year. They work closely with community members, us as the Students' Union, and the University to identify issues, gather feedback, lead events, campaign and create positive change.

How can you get in touch with your community engagement leads?

Emailing community.su@coventry.ac.uk is the best way to get in touch. You can also drop into our Coventry, London or Scarborough campuses SU spaces in person to ask about communities.

Each community also has a community WhatsApp channel which community members are invited to join (You’ll get an email invitation when you join the community).
