Read the information sent to you by the University. This will usually include:

• The regulations about academic misconduct.
• A Scale of Outcomes table, which shows the possible outcomes of your case.
• An invitation letter. This will usually tell you the type of misconduct allegation, the time and place of the meeting, and the support available to you. Most meetings are on Teams. 

Check your Turnitin report. You may get this with the invitation letter, or you might need to download it from Turnitin. This should show if your work is similar to someone else's. If a lot is highlighted, the University may focus on these parts in the meeting. However, a high Turnitin score doesn’t necessarily mean there is a problem, and low scores aren’t always okay- Turnitin is just a tool to spot any potential issues.

Your Students Union Advice Service can support you before the meeting. To get advice and guidance, complete the Enquiry Form. Please attach your invitation letter, your Turnitin report if possible and any other evidence files sent to you by the University. An Advice Caseworker may be able to go to the meeting with you. If they do, you must let the meeting organiser know their  contact details at least 24 hours in advance.
