Each month, we celebrate the incredible work happening across our student societies through our Society Awards. These awards recognise the students and groups who are creating opportunities for students and building communities and spaces that create positive experiences. 

Whether it's organising events, supporting new members or helping their society thrive, our societies show their dedication to student experience.

For September, we're delighted to congratulate our winners...

Society of the Month: Maths Society

The society was nominated following a successful bingo event during Welcome Week, the first time a society has led on an SU welcome programme open to all students, which created a friendly and inclusive environment for students at the very start of the academic year.

One nomination shared:

"They put on an excellent bingo event during freshers week which was very organised of them to achieve this so early on in the semester. I felt welcome, they included everyone in the room."

Starting the year with a well-organised event is a fantastic achievement, you can see what else the committee have planned on their webpage.

Committee Member of the Month: Bailey - Rock Music Society Treasurer

Bailey was nominated in recognition of the commitment, leadership and support they have shown to both committee members and new society members throughout the month.

Their nomination highlighted the positive impact they have had within their society:

"Bailey has been nominated for this month's committee member of the month due to his support with the committee and the new members. Bailey has been at every event without fail and took a very natural lead. He's befriended a lot of the members and they see him as someone to confide in. He's carried the events when committee members have been unwell or unable to attend and always prioritised the society and its members. Thank you Bailey!"
