About the event


This practical workshop helps you stay safer and more confident online. 

You’ll explore common risks such as scams, phishing, identity theft and learn how to spot red flags before you click. We’ll cover privacy settings, password security, protecting personal information and managing your digital footprint, as well as how online behaviour can affect your wellbeing and reputation. 

By attending, you’ll gain the following skills, knowledge and behaviours for your future career:

Skills:

  • Recognising scams, phishing attempts and suspicious requests.
  • Setting and reviewing privacy and security settings on key platforms.
  • Creating and managing strong, unique passwords.
  • Protecting personal information and managing your digital footprint.

Knowledge:

  • Common online risks (fraud, identity theft, oversharing, reputation).
  • How data is collected and used online.
  • Basics of digital rights, consent and online safety resources.

Behaviours:

  • More cautious, critical approach to links, messages and requests.
  • Proactive privacy and security habits (e.g. 2FA, regular checks).
  • Ability to question, verify and seek help when something feels unsafe.

Through short activities and discussion, you’ll leave with clear, realistic steps to reduce risk, protect your accounts and make more informed choices in study, work and everyday life.
