As a Students’ Union, we want to share our solidarity and condolences with those impacted by the floods in the Nepal-Tibet area. We know that some students may have personal connections to the area, potentially with friends and family who have been impacted. As always, we want you all to know that Your SU is here to support you should you need us.

Two members of our officer team are from Nepal and would like to share the following statement on behalf of the rest of the Officer team.

'As officers at Coventry Students’ Union, and people from Nepal, we are deeply saddened by the devastating floods affecting communities across Nepal. Our thoughts are with everyone who has lost loved ones, those who are injured or missing, and all those waiting anxiously for news from their families and friends. 

We know this situation will be particularly difficult for students and staff in our Coventry University community with connections to Nepal. Please know you are not alone, the Students’ Union and the University are here to support you, and we stand in solidarity with everyone affected during this incredibly difficult time.' 

Together with our officers, we want to provide support and guidance to those impacted by this devastating event. Find a list of support available below:

• You can contact the Students’ Union Advice Service, which offers free, confidential and independent advice and support if the current crisis is affecting your academic work, attendance or assessments or if you are experiencing financial difficulties as a result. To contact the service, please use their online enquiry form.
• The university’s student wellbeing service can provide support for those who need support with their emotional wellbeing, as well as other support. Find out about their services and how to contact them here.

We also encourage everyone in our community to approach conversations about this situation with care, empathy and respect. Times like these can affect people in very different ways, and it is important that we continue to look out for one another.
