Arrange Support For Your Exams

If you have a disability, long-term medical condition or a specific learning difference, you may be entitled to additional support in your exams. This is referred to as Individual Exam Arrangements (IEA), which can typically include adjustments such as:

  • having extra time to complete your exam
  • a reader to support you in understanding what the exam tasks are
  • a scribe to take down what you want to write for your answers
  • having your own separate room to work in
  • rest breaks to support your wellbeing

It's really important to start to arrange your support as soon as possible. You can do this by contacting the Disability Services Team by emailing them at; disabilityadvisor.ss@coventry.ac.uk or book an appointment

Our Top Tips

  • 'It's all about that balance' Make sure you balance your studies with opportunities for fun and self care! Join in with SU events and wellbeing activities.

  • 'Check in with others, always share' Don’t keep things bottled up. Talking about your feelings with friends, family or your tutor/coach is not a sign of weakness but of taking charge of your own wellbeing.

  • 'Make sure you get some sleep!' Get into a good sleep routine. Try writing all your worries and thoughts down before you go to sleep, and reduce screen time an hour before you plan to go to bed.

  • 'Use the support available' Your Students' Union has support available including wellbeing events to support you. Remember to check out our support hub for a list of resources and support services.

  • 'Your grade doesn't define you' Take a deep breath and take stock of how far you’ve come. Everyone has different challenges in life, and set backs can sometimes be a great opportunity to grow.

Sigma & CAW

Did you know the University offers free, professional support for mathematics and academic writing?

Sigma provides free mathematics and statistics support for all Coventry University students and staff. Throughout the year they run various workshops and training courses to improve your skills in areas such as statistics, mathematical software packages and employer's numerical reasoning tests.

The Centre for Academic Writing (CAWS) provide students with individualised advice and guidance on assignment writing and academic writing genres such as essays, reports, dissertations, theses, and exam papers. Student support is focused on topics ranging from how to organise an academic argument to how to improve academic style and sentence structure.
