ABOUT ME:

Hello, myself Panchami Satheesh, studying MSc International Business Management,Coventry University. With my 8 months plus experience as Student Ambassador and Education Transformation Rep, my confidence and leadership skills have improved this past academic year. I volunteer as CU Coventry, CU London & Scarborough Peer-Mentor for students in various faculties (mainly Faculty of Business and Law, Health and Life Science, Arts &Humanities, Post Graduate Taught, Study Abroad, Mature student, International Student). I'm actively involved in Student's Union Activities.

In my free time I enjoy travelling, reading and sketching.

 

WHY VOTE ME??

AS AN EDUCATION OFFICER, I STRIVE TO :

1.AID in Cost of living crisis
-    Promote access to affordable food

Working with local food banks to distribute food to students in need, promoting the use of meal plans or vouchers, and encouraging the development of student-run food co-ops.

-    Increase awareness of financial management:

Increase awareness of financial management and budgeting among students, including providing information on financial planning, managing debt, and accessing financial assistance.

-    Encourage affordable housing options:

Working with local councils, landlords, and student unions to encourage the development of affordable and safe housing options  and advocating rent caps and affordable accommodation on campus for students.

-    Cut Down Printing Cost


2.Flexible Assessment Provision and Tutor system for academic and personal wellbeing

-    Promote alternative assessment methods :

Promoting alternative assessment methods including written exams, oral presentations, group projects, and practical assessments based on students’ preference and potential.


-    PORTFOLIO for ALL :

Create a system to create a portfolio for a more personal and representative academic reference. Updated at the end of each year to keep track of of your personal development.

-    IMPROVED LEARNING ATMOSPHERE :

Facilitate the creation of note-sharing clouds to promote the collectivisation of learning.

-   Foster a supportive and inclusive tutor environment: 

Creating safe spaces for students to discuss sensitive issues, encouraging open communication between tutors and students, and promoting mental health and well-being.   

 

3. More Part Time Jobs and Employment Centric-trainings and Skill development

-    Focus on skills for the future:

Teaching the skills needed in the workplace, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.

-    Promote access to part-time job opportunities:

Work with local employers, student unions, and other organizations to promote access to part-time job opportunities for students. This could include creating job boards or databases for students to search for opportunities, working with local businesses to offer part-time positions, and promoting flexible working arrangements.

-    Advocate for fair employment opportunities:

Advocate for fair employment opportunities for students(including those who are differently abled and other health conditions) , including part-time work that pays a living wage and provides flexible hours to allow students to balance work and study.

-    Encourage employers to support students' academic commitments:

Work with employers to encourage them to support students' academic commitments, such as allowing for flexible working hours and providing opportunities for remote work. This will help students balance their work and academic commitments, ensuring that they can succeed in both areas.
