Celebrating Our Diversity While Keeping YOU in Mind. Together, we can network and unite as a community.

As a molecular biology master's student, I am excited to run for the post of community officer. I am a firm believer in having a devoted and passionate individual represent the interests of students both on and off campus in order to promote a positive and varied cultural experience for all.

Every year, hundreds of students take part in equity, diversity, and inclusion campaigns that address a variety of problems affecting students. If elected, my aim is to lead these areas, bring new ideas, and ensure that all students' needs are met, whether on campus or online. I intend to accomplish this through the organization of campaigns, events, and initiatives that engage and support our student community while also encouraging intercultural engagement among students. I will also actively seek feedback from students and listen to their experiences and concerns.

My desire to make a difference and assist students, coupled with my transferable skills and strong work ethic, qualify me for this job. I am an excellent communicator and negotiator with great organizational and time management abilities. These abilities were demonstrated in my prior role as a lead researcher, where I met 90% of my objectives.

To accomplish my objectives, I have identified seven key responsibilities that I will actively perform as a community officer:

  • Lead representative on the Equality and Diversity Committee and other relevant committees at the institution.
  • Lead representative for creating links with the university's international collaborators and knowledge of the values and students who belong to the Coventry University Student Union.
  • Responsible for reporting on the demographic participation levels of various cultures and communities across the Coventry University Student Union and creating participation strategies.
  • Responsible for participating in the university's efforts on globalizing the curriculum and providing students with international opportunities.
  • Collaborating with student and community organizations, assist students in participating in a variety of cultural activities.
  • In partnership with the Spirituality Centre, promote interfaith understanding and its role in preserving good campus relations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing positive relationships with the local community, residents' groups, and ensuring students are supported in their roles as community representatives.

Moreover, I believe that a strong sense of community is critical for a beneficial university experience. Currently, less than 70% of Coventry University students have a strong feeling of belonging, which is a major concern. To address this, I intend to lead the development of policies and strategies related to equity, diversity, and inclusion across the University Group, as well as to support community involvement.

I also believe that incorporating more traditional events into each calendar month, such as Black History Month, Holocaust events, and World Peace Day, will help students feel more involved and included as members of the institution. Responsible for maintaining and developing positive relationships with the local community, residents' groups, and ensuring students are supported in their roles as community representatives. In addition, I will work cooperatively with the employment team to expand job options for students both on and off campus.

Overall, I am dedicated to representing and promoting the interests of all students, and if elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that every student at Coventry University feels engaged, involved, and supported.
