Growing the self Inside out!

Hello everyone!

I am Ankur Bhattacharya, 26 years old, pursuing Msc. in Enterprise and Innovation in CU London. I am native of Kolkata, an eastern city of India, but due to my father's job location I was born and raised in Visakhapatnam, a southern city of India. My upbringing in such a multi-faceted culture has not only taught me to understand and respect diversity, but also realize the factors that support its essence.

Challenges and setbacks are not new to me, I have endured all of them to get to be a part of you. My undergraduate education in computer science, followed by my transitioning into the field of Sales and Marketing by working in a business school has revealed its fair share of challenges, thus giving me the strength to overcome.

Prior to my studies in the UK, I was working in Woxsen University, Hyderabad. It is here that I developed interest in management studies which guided me to be a part of you. I worked in Admissions and Marketing as well as public relations with current and prospective students.

My work experience has given me the opportunity to learn the needs of a student and ways in which the university can help. Which is why I believe I have the necessary know how to stand for the position of an education officer. I am a student of life, constantly learning from the setbacks I have incurred and improving myself one step at a time. From the course that I study in CU London, I can describe myself as the Minimum viable product that is constantly operating in the Lean Development methodology of life. I have a student’s heart with knowledge of how a university operates and impacts a student.

This integrative knowledge gives me the confidence to serve all of you better as I can spontaneously get into your shoes to understand your perspectives, also liaison with the university officials appropriately to ensure the gap is bridged effectively.

Now let me get into the 3 goals that I have for all of you, which helps me live by my slogan.

1.     Mental and Physical Health:

Great saints have long said, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection within”. Through the courses at our university, we are only trying to bring out our perfection, and the only thing supporting us all throughout is our health. Immigrating to a new country has its own set of challenges to overcome, which may lead to mental stress, thereby physical issues.

Connecting back to my slogan, my suggestion is growing from the inside. How?

I will arrange for meditation sessions for students at free of cost which will not only help with the mental stress but also aid in focusing on studies, leading to overall development.

I will also work on Yoga sessions that help in destressing physical ailments, thereby growing a community of healthy individuals who empathise with problems and guide others by example.

2.     Enhanced Knowledge Building.

Back in my undergraduate days, what got me interested in Management studies was Business Quizzing. I went onto winning state level Quiz competitions like the TATA Crucible Campus Quiz, thereby enhancing my knowledge base for management studies.

What I observed was when we make a game out of learning, we increase the thirst for knowledge, thus leading to increased desire in our courses.

To help us all with our studies, I will start a quiz club which will conduct quiz competitions every month for students across different courses to get them to fall in love with their respective courses. There will be amazing rewards for the winners.

Such simple initiatives can be easy to implement, allowing University management to acknowledge our knowledge initiative and students to be a part of a knowledgeable community.

3.     Employability skills and Opportunities

Studying Enterprise and Innovation has given me the opportunity to be a part of Super-Pivot, an Initiative of Professor Callum Morrison, which helps students meet real world entrepreneurs and pick their brains to learn skills that matter in the actual world.

I will work on getting leaders in the industry across domains of our courses to give relevant knowledge in the current times, leading to building a professional network which can upgrade our employability percentage.

This way we can reform our potential alumni base which help existing students get induced in the ever-growing, upskilled UK Job market.

These have been my lookout for the development of our sustainable careers in the UK and to fulfil the dream which we collectively saw when we embarked on this journey with Coventry University.

Choosing me as your Education Officer gets you a fulfilled dream, as by aiding you in fulfilling your dreams, I fulfil mine.

It’s through you, that I am.

Thank you so much for reading so far, I wish you the best for your future endeavours.
