MARGARIDA VASCONCELOS

She/Her/Hers

Hello fellow students! My name is Margarida. I’m a fourth-year photography student, currently running for the position of Community Officer for the next academic year 2023 / 2024. I have always loved being involved with the community and using my time to support social causes. With that passion, I aim to represent all students and help improve their university experience.  As a creative individual, I strive to bring inclusive opportunities to expand creativity and collaboration.

PLEDGES

  • Create an enhanced network for creative students by making Student Media more active. This allows students to collaborate, freely create, build their networks, gain experience and visibility for their work.
  • Working together with faculty officers to create faculty focused alumni events. This will provide current students the opportunity to network and hear about the different job roles alumni students are undertaking.
  • Improving the feeling of community by tackling homesickness and isolation. This will be done through a range of events and mental health and peer pressure campaigns. Also, raise awareness on the various services that the student union and university offer and gather feedback on those.

EXPERIENCE

  • Dissertation: “The complexities of participatory practices and the key elements to creating a successful project, social change being the ultimate goal”
  • University projects with international students surrounding times of identity and culture such as “Saudade” and “Taste of Home”.
  • President of the Student Union at College of Amarante, Portugal in 2018/2029
  • Variety of volunteering experiences:  at a senior residence, at an organisation that provides leisure activities for people with disabilities and with an organisation that aims to provide educational resources to children.
