The best thing about Coventry University is there’s something for everyone, but sometimes university life moves so quickly that we don’t always know what’s available to us. My name is Ernest and I’m here to work with you.
I am an international student currently studying for an MBA and like some of you, it has come with its challenges. In my time here, I have seen international students go through many lows to find their place among their peers. Sometimes at a very high cost.
Having actively worked within the union and personally with individual students throughout the university to improve student-to-faculty interactions, I have a strong insight into what needs to be done to enhance student life at Coventry University.
BOOST STUDENT ASSISTANCE DURING ENROLMENT – Enrolment is the start of your journey here at Coventry. Doing it right and on time can make a huge difference. I would galvanize the SU to work with students to improve the standard of communication with you and the Student Engagement so you know what’s going on and help create quicker response times to reported issues.
CAMPUS-WIDE ACTIVITIES – I would create a hub where you can get all the information around campus. Gone would be the days, “I didn’t know about that” would be the response from any Coventry Student. Expect activities that would help balance your study life, increase your chances for job opportunities, and social and faith life.
STRENGTHEN ACADEMIC STANDARDS – Every student should be supported to the same standard regardless of program or academic school. Assignment feedback and protocols, tutoring, and career advice need to be clearer and more transparent to get the most out of our degree. This I vow to bring to fruition.
EQUAL EXPERIENCE FOR ALL STUDENTS – We pay exorbitant fees, so we deserve not just the same experience but a memorable one. Coventry University has a hugely diverse population, and every student should feel they belong. Equal access to the same facilities and support across each faculty will also ease the demand of our workloads and become more balanced with our other commitments.
