One for all. All for one.

My name is Mansi and I am an MSc Managememt student at Coventry University, London. I am standing for the position of Community Officer. The reason why I am standing for this position is because I want to understand if my fellow students are facing any downfall in our community and provide a helping hand to guide them out of it.

Why I should be elected?

The reason why I should be elected is because I strongly believe that I can make a change in this area.I feel that in addition to our studies, it is also important that the students also enjoy their life and stay here in the UK. Just like me, there are numerous international students here at the university, who sometimes may feel lonely because they do not feel the part of a community. I want to take measures and do something so that no student feels alone.

My action plans:

Mental Health Issues: Many studies have shown that university students suffer from various mental health issues which may range from loneliness to depression. If elected, I will ensure that any and all students suffering from any of these issues will be provided adequate support and counseling if they so require.

Motivation: It is highly important that students feel motivated during their studies. Statistics show that because of high pressure of studies, about one-third of students in a university drop out of their studies. I will try to help them by organising motivational speaker sessions and also one-on-one mentorship sessions to keep them motivated and focused.

Personal Development: Many students have exemplary academic skills but minimal development skills. These skills can be improved by providing training and mentorship and creating closer links with the prospective employers.

Building a strong community together: It is seen that only a small fraction of students feel a sense of community as international students. This is a major concern that needs to be addressed. To develop a sense of community and help students build strong relationships with each other, various traditional and cultural events can be organised. This will aid the students feel less isolated and bond well with each other.
