What is the sexual health hub and what can it do for me?

The new sexual health hub brings together vital treatment and support services for sexual health across Coventry and Warwickshire. It provides a range of testing and treatment services for sexually transmitted infections as well as contraception services. These include:

  • A free condom distribution scheme.
  • Information and advice on the different types of contraception, including where to access emergency contraception.
  • Free confidential advice and education on sex and your sexual health for everyone – including students.
  • Access to sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing online or in clinic.
  • Testing and treatment for HIV, including access to Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).
  • Community outreach services in partnership with the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Why have the services for sexual health changed in Coventry?

The new hub brings together what have previously been separate sexual health services operated by different organisations in different locations in Coventry and Warwickshire. This should make it clearer and easier for everyone to access sexual health services and support whenever and wherever they are across the region. The new service is delivered by HCRG, which currently operates several other health services across Coventry. HCRG operates a number of sexual health services across the country, and all are CQC rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ – meaning you will be receiving the very best care and advice.

Where and when can I access the sexual health hub?

The main clinic will be based in West Orchards Shopping Centre, West Orchard Way, Coventry, CV1 1QX. The opening hours are:

  • Mondays: 8.30–17.00.
  • Tuesdays: 8.30-19.00.
  • Wednesdays: 8.30-17.00.
  • Thursdays: 8.30–19.00.
  • Fridays: 8.30-17.00.
  • Saturdays: 9.00-15.00.

There will also be smaller clinics running at The Swan Centre, Chapel Street in Rugby, 32 Bath Street in Leamington-Spa and Bond House, Newdigate Street in Nuneaton.

You can also find out more information by calling 0300 247 0069 or keeping a look out on their website.

What if I’m based on a campus that isn’t in Coventry?

You may not be able to access this particular sexual health hub if you are based in Scarborough or London, but there are similar, equally supportive services where you are. Check out your advice service’s comprehensive sexual health pages for all the details.
