Studying at Coventry University means you have access to vibrant, diverse, multicultural communities. Here, you can get to know the people that make you feel like you belong, and build long lasting connections.
Meeting new people and settling in to a new city can feel overwhelming, but Your Students Union is here to help. We’re here to help you find your people, who support you through your journey, and make university feel like home. Students of all sexualities, gender identities, ethnicities, nationalities, faiths, and backgrounds study at Coventry. Your SU connects these communities and allows you to build your network.
At Your SU, there are a number of ways you can find students who share your interests, who you identify with and who you want to spend time with. From academic, faith, culture and hobby-based societies to our liberation community groups where you can meet other students who share similar identities and backgrounds to you. Trust us, you belong here, and there will always be a community, no matter how niche, where you fit right in.
Your SU also runs a number of community events throughout the year, such as our Speed Friending events which take the 'awkward' out of making friends, and our campaigns work, which make it easy for you to meet new people who share the same values as you, allowing you to build connections through shared interests and change making. We also have plenty of opportunities for you to integrate yourself within the wider community, such as volunteering across the city and working with local residents and organisations as a Community Champion.
Don’t forget to complete your profile on the Your Students Union website – This will allow you to select the topics and activities that matter most to you and allow us to provide you with tailored content that will help you find the opportunities which you feel a sense of connection to, and where you’re more likely to meet people who you identify with.
Coming to university is a big and sometimes daunting adventure, but if you find the right people to share it with, you’ll discover that making your own community and settling in is easier than you think.
