Officers shape and lead Your SU’s work for students, and there’s a lot! Explore what we achieved in 2023 and along the way find the best role for you.

Part-time officer position (this is a role that you would complete alongside your academic studies, on a part-time basis) – PTO

Full-time officer position (this is a role which you can complete either once you graduate or which you can take a year out of your studies for, it is a full-time role) – FTO

Building on the success of Advice Outreach. This year hundreds of students were able to get the advice they needed, in the location where they study

Feedback events like Your Course Conversations and Student Voice on Tour where we collect lots of student feedback

Our varsity tournament, where our sports teams play against another university teams

International student welcome, with a speech from the mayor and student community performances

Supporting foodbanks and collating food parcels to support students with the cost of living

Ensuring each student has access to a personal tutor

Ensuring each student has the opportunity to find and join a student community

Hosting an event with sports clubs and societies to encourage students to try something new

Working with student representatives to achieve over 200 feedback wins

Putting on a Disability History Month conference, raising money for local charities and working with businesses in the local community

Hosting volunteering taster days across the year, giving students one-off volunteering opportunities to support vulnerable people across Coventry

Lobbying the University to improve academic support policies, to help decrease the amount of students who experience academic misconduct claims such as plagiarism

Period poverty campaign, providing free sanitary products and information to students

Can you see me now, an arts activism campaign, challenging perceptions of invisible disabilities, held in collaboration with our student groups

Rep rewards programme, providing all of our engaged student representatives with recognition for their hard work across the year

LGBTQIA+ history month, encouraging our sports and societies to host inclusive events, celebrating diversity of our student population

Training opportunities - such as British Sign language courses, or skills development workshops

Wellbeing events – hosting activities such as pet therapy workshops, or mental health day activities

Club and Society activities - encouraging students to attend a sports or society give it a go session

Inclusion events and awareness months - such as Black History Month or International Women’s day celebrations

Green impact - to support environmental and socially sustainable practices across the SU

CPD (Continuous Professional Development) accreditation - so that SU training has independent, professional recognition

Thrive at work - to support SU staff with their mental health

Encouraging societies and volunteers to put themselves forward in the National Society and Volunteering Awards

Ensuring all students have a voice in improving their student experience

Ensuring every student can find and create their community

Ensuring value for money in all aspects of student life

Helping students to develop their skills

University Board of Governors - the most senior body in the university

Union Affairs Committee - a decision-making meeting with all full-time and part-time officers

People and Culture Committee - responsible for the working culture of the Students’ Union

Finance and Risk Committee – responsible for ensuring the financial and corporate stability of the Students’ Union

To succeed in their studies, students need adequate financial and wellbeing support so they can focus on their work and not have to worry about money and their health
